Yamba is happy all-round
YAMBA'S newest roundabout was open to traffic on Sunday, almost two weeks ahead of schedule.
The cement roundabout at the intersection of Yamba Road and Golding Street has been a work-in-progress for the past few months.
Road closures and changed traffic conditions along the busy main road will now be a thing of the past.
So too will traffic jams on Golding Street where motorists were having to queue up to 10 minutes to get onto Yamba Road during peak times.
One local resident said the roundabout was long overdue and has been well received.
Clarence Valley Council roads and transport manager, Tim Jenkins, said council was happy with the final result.
"The job has gone very well, but unfortunately as it's concrete, it takes a bit of time for the concrete to harden before you can start other jobs," he said.
"Staff are very pleased with the way the construction went ... it's a good result all-round."
Although most of the ground works are completed, landscaping on the roundabout is yet to be finished.
Mr Jenkins said council's next schedule of works had been tentatively planned for Coldstream Street in Yamba's CBD.
