Yamba swimmer lifts rankings

DYLAN Brown represented Yamba Orcas Swimming Club at the NSW State 9-12 years Age Championships.

More than 600 swimmers representing 150 clubs attended the event.

After qualifying in 12th place, Brown won his 10-years 100m breaststroke heat convincingly in a time of 1:34.90, a four-second personal best and lifted his ranking to sixth in the State.

Qualifying 30th in the 100m freestyle, Brown finished second in his heat with a personal best of 1:13.90 to improve his ranking to 17th in the State.

Brown trains with a strong squad of excellent young swimmers at the Yamba Community Pool under the guidance of coach Richard Beresford. This is the second year in a row Brown has reached the finals, a huge achievement for a boy from a small coastal town.
