Yamba?s golfers play all their aces

Who said holes-in-one were a rarity?

Following our DEX story (September 2) regarding the raft of recent holes-in-one at Maclean Golf Club, the crew from Yamba Golf Club have joined in the 'ace' parade.

Over three consecutive days beginning last Thursday, three different golfers joined the growing Hole-In-One Club at the 150m par three.

On Thursday with a 40-knot southerly buster directly into his face, Ray Scovell hit the shot of the day with a driver to score the first of an unlikely 'trifecta.'

Visiting ex-local Andy Wilson, using a six-iron, struck perfection when his ball found it's way into the cup for hole in one No.2 on Friday.

Then in near perfect conditions last Saturday, famed surfboard shaper and avid golfer Rod Dahlberg, allegedly using a wedge, completed the stunning hole-in-one trifecta at the third.

One local wag suggested the trio must have been using some form of trick gadgetry in the balls with a magnetic cup.

The order apparently went out for green keepers to double check the dimensions of the cup, by this stage to some, looking wider than the mouth of Yamba break wall.
