Arnold only entertains the thought of winning

SYDNEY FC coach Graham Arnold says he has no responsibility to get his team to adopt an entertaining style of play.

Responding to criticism of his dour game plan that has seen the side drop to fifth on the A-League table after successive losses to Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar, Arnold said entertaining fans was overrated.

"Winning (is more important)," Arnold said. "It's a load of crap, entertainment.

"Don't tell me one coach ever in the A-League that's been sacked for not entertaining.

"Nearly for 10 years, four A-League coaches get sacked every year, except for this year so far.

"And every coach that I've ever known that's been sacked it's never been down to entertainment ... it's been results."

A result in Adelaide will be difficult to secure considering the Reds' resurgence after a slow start to the season.

Guillermo Amor's men haven't lost in their past nine games, and have also won five of their past seven A-League games against Sydney.

Another win tonight would see Adelaide leap-frog the Sky Blues into fifth place.

Arnold has named new signing David Carney just days after the striker switched from Newcastle, giving the team an extra attacking weapon that has been missing in the absence of injured captain Alex Brosque.

Adelaide, on the other hand, has had no trouble scoring goals, knocking in 11 in its past four games.

Marcelo Carrusca with four and Craig Goodwin with three have led the way up front.
