Kay Cottee reopens gallery
AFTER a two-year closure, Kay Cottee has reopened her gallery upstairs at the Yamba Marina, assembling some of the finest works by local artists to feature in her new 2010 collection.
“It’s wonderful to be open again and have all exhibiting artists take it in turns to man the gallery,” Kay said.
The works displayed include Kay’s own paintings and sculptures, plus acrylics, mixed media, fine art, as well as contemporary pieces by Lyndall Adams, Gary Winter, Jan Syle, Victoria Clarke, Julie Hutchings, Kate Stead – to name a few.
“This year we are displaying art that reflects the enormous talent base of painters, sculptors, printers and ceramicists from northern NSW,” Kay said.
“I think the collection is wonderful and also unusual in its diversity,” Kay said.
Included in the exhibition is a new painting by Kay titled Bellingen From 10.5 Nautical Miles East, taken on a recent sailing trip that according to her doesn’t happen as often as she would like.
“The painting is mostly sea and sky with a slither of land in the distance,” she said
The slither is in fact Bellingen.
She snapped many photographs during her voyage.
Also available at the gallery is the award-winning documentary DVD of Kay’s historic voyage around the world.
All artworks are for sale, and personally signed copies of Kay’s DVD are available.
The Kay Cottee Fine Art Gallery at Yamba Marina is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am-3pm and 10am-noon, Sunday.
