Watchdog warns public not to do business with Aussie Rob

A MAN who came to the Fraser Coast with a bang only to leave with a whimper has run foul of Australia's corporation watchdog ASIC.

Robert Wilson, or as he is better known "Aussie Rob", has now been listed by ASIC as a person not to do business with.

Aussie Rob opened two restaurants in Hervey Bay - Urban Cafe and Bar - a few years ago, one at Fraser Shores and the other on the Esplanade.

He later closed both, leaving town to concentrate on running his financial businesses on the Gold Coast.

ASIC has now banned the high-profile former director of a number of Gold Coast-based financial services companies from the industry and warned the public against doing business with the individual.

In a statement released this week, the corporate regulator announced it was permanently banning Robert Lloyd Wilson from the financial services sector and "warning the public not to deal with the failed businessman".

Mr Wilson is now a prominent business figure in the Gold Coast, having received local media attention for his involvement in "get rich quick" computer trading systems.

He was found to have made misleading statements to the corporate regulator during investigations into his business activities.
