Warwick police officer allegedly assaults female sergeant
WARWICK Police Senior Constable Brett Hughes has been suspended from duty following allegations he assaulted a female sergeant.
The Courier Mail reports the assault allegedly took place at Warwick police station and led to the male officer being placed in the watchhouse.
Court documents allege the assault took place in the constables' day room at Warwick station on July 31.
The documents say officer-in-charge, Senior Sergeant Lisa Self, was talking with three officers and had her back to the door.
Snr Const Hughes, 43, allegedly entered the room "and without warning, walked directly into the complainant", knocking her forward.
The Warwick officer is not the only one facing serious allegations.
The man's partner and fellow officer Snr Const Morgen Grigg has reportedly been stood down from her position.
The 37-year-old Stanthorpe officer was charged with a mid-range drink-driving offence as she and Snr Const Hughes drove home from a local pub.
Both officers are defending the charges and are due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court next week.
