Astrophysicist says he'd grab Trump by the crotch

ONE of the world's most well-known astrophysicists has said he'd like to "grab Trump by the crotch" before teaching the United States President-Elect about science.

In a tweet that has since disappeared off his social media account, Neil deGrasse Tyson said he may grab Donald Trump by the crotch "to get his attention".

The seemingly controversial statement is a reference to Trump's own widely-condemned remarks, made back in 2005, that surfaced during the presidential campaign.

An audio recording of Trump on a television set reveals him encouraging TV host Billy Bush to sexually assault women and "grab them by the pussy".

Bush was fired from the U.S version of the Today show for his role in the discussion.

Since deleting the tweet, Mr deGrasse Tyson has since said he'd like to discuss with Trump what science is and how it works.

The astrophysicist is known for his television show Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.
