Aussie actor riding towards Grafton for his sister

WE LOOK at celebrities and envy their lives; the stardom, the fame and, of course, the pay cheques that come with it.

But Australian actor Samuel Johnson's story proves they are people just like the rest of us.

Johnson's sister Connie has terminal breast cancer and in a bid to raise awareness, he has pledged to ride around the country on a unicycle.

Dubbed the Love Your Sister ride, Johnson promised his sister three things: raise a million dollars for breast cancer research, raise awareness of the disease and break the Guinness World Record for the longest journey on a unicycle.

The ride will take one year and so far he's been riding since February this year and will cycle through Grafton on November 22

The message is simple: don't fall into the booby-trap, be breast aware.

"Our primary aim is to remind every mum in the land to be breast aware and we feel this is best done by engaging directly with the communities we pass through," Johnson said.

"We are asking Grafton to issue me with a fundraising dare of their choosing.

"For example, in Bendigo I will be drag-racing a tram down the main street on my unicycle, and in Junee I'll enter a bowling competition."

If any schools would like to get Johnson in for a performance, or if you've got a dare for him, email emma@ loveyoursister.org.

And if you're not yet convinced Johnson is deadly serious about this mission - he's even had sperm frozen (under advice of doctors) in case the uncomfortable journey has a lasting effect on his closest mates.
