Baby Asha has left hospital, bound for community detention

BABY Asha has been transferred from Lady Cilento Children's Hospital to community detention, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has told Channel Nine.

Asha had been treated at the hospital by doctors who refused to discharge the one-year-old after she was injured in immigration detention on Nauru last month.

Yesterday, Mr Dutton confirmed Asha would be transferred to community detention, but could still end up being returned to Nauru.

Asha's fate has been the focal point of a 10-day protest outside the hospital.
