Bangalow Primary students off to Italy to play for AC Milan

BOTH Bangalow Soccer Club and Bangalow Public School have two possible international stars in the making in juniors Milo Bisogni and Billy Lee.

Following A C Milan training camps at Southern Cross University (SCU), the pair was selected to play for the Italian soccer giant in a tournament in Italy later this month and into April.

Centre-back Milo, 12, said it started when they were both selected in the Skills Acquisition Squad two years ago, training three days a week.

"We trained three days a week before our coach (FFNC technical director) Victor Stokes selected 14 of us to attend A C Milan training camps at SCU," Milo said.

"At the end, we were told how we went, but were both totally surprised to learn of our selection for Italy.

"It should be a great experience and we're really looking forward to it. Hopefully we can learn enough to help our rep side at home."

Left-winger Billy, 11, said that "there's still more training when we arrive at Milan".

"We've learned that we'll have a six-day camp to get to know each other before we start playing," Billy said.

"After that we head off to Montecatini, near Florence, to play in the tournament.

"I think that, if we play well, we could be up for selection into the A C Milan Academy squad."

Both boys have indicated their desire to play soccer as a career, adding that "this will help".
