Barefooter likes to keep his feet on the water
IT'S not often the Clarence Valley hosts a reigning world sporting champion.
So, if you want to see one, keep an eye on the Clarence River this week because we have a champion strutting his stuff.
Keith St. Onge arrived here a few days ago after winning his second world barefoot skiing title in New Zealand. He is here as the guest of the team at Cobra Ski and Board in Tatler, Brisbane. Management brought him down to Grafton for a week of coaching at the Big River Ski Park near the city.
The world champion has been skiing for 21 years in the United States.
Keith follows the cycle of the seasons. He spends the United States summer at home running his ski school in Winter Haven, Florida, where he is known as one of the most hands-on and dedicated coaches in the sport.
He then follows the summer to the southern hemisphere so he can keep barefoot skiing.
