Barry collects fish ruler for grandson

BARRY Elder's 12-year-old grandson was on his mind when he went to collect his fishing ruler from Nextra News in Grafton Shoppingworld on Saturday.

"He's a keen fisherman,” Mr Elder said about his grandson, who he was collecting the ruler for.

"He loves crabbing and catching garfish.

"He goes two or three times a week, I take him sometimes, but his father takes him most of the time.”

Like his grandson, Mr Elder enjoys fishing.

"I've been fishing all my life, since I was a little fella,” he said.

"I just enjoy the relaxation.

"I like to fish for flathead and garfish.

"I mainly fish up around Grafton ... I just like relaxing on the river.”

The fishing ruler collection is part of The Daily Examiner's free fishing gear giveaway.

The promotion is running as part of our Ultimate Fishing Giveaway, where you have the chance to win an amazing Sunshine Coast charter experience including accommodation, travel vouchers and spending money.

Grab two entry tokens in The Daily Examiner and look out for entry forms every Saturday and Wednesday to enter the competition.
