Belief in Buderim baker for Masterchef title

BUDERIM baker Ashleigh Bareham has what it takes to win MasterChef, says Rose Adam.

As the reality cooking show's latest eliminated contestant, Adam is full of praise for Bareham's skills as an all-round cook.

"I know she's been pinned as the dessert person, and that's her dream, but she's amazing at savoury dishes," Adam told the Daily.

"She's good all the way around and she's amazing in a team challenge.

"Ashleigh's a real team player and she's always really supportive.

"Sometimes the pressure gets to her but she always rises above it.

"She's definitely one to watch … she could take it out."

Bareham, 24, is the only one of the nine remaining contestants to have the security of an immunity pin, which she can hand in at any point to avoid elimination.

Adam said Bareham was in an enviable position thanks to the golden pin.

"To have that pin is amazing and more than anything it is a confidence booster," she said.

"It's very intimidating for the other contestants."

Adam has already realised her food dream of opening a cafe in Adelaide with her family.

The cafe opened a few weeks ago and the modern menu draws on their Lebanese heritage in dishes like beetroot humus and feta bagel and tahini banana bread.

"I was just saying to my sister the other day when we were planning the menu, if I hadn't gone on MasterChef then I wouldn't be as brave to do some of the food we're doing," Adam said.

"MasterChef has taken the fear out of food a little bit. It has made me go 'relax and have fun with it'."

MasterChef airs Sundays through Thursdays at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
