Ben Barba asks for a release from bulldogs
BEN Barba has asked for an official release from Canterbury in order to reunite with his family in Queensland.
The Dally M medallist's management lodged the written request with Bulldogs powerbrokers a fortnight ago with a view to joining Brisbane next season.
There has been speculation over Barba's future all season after Ainslie Currie, the mother of his two children, outlined her intention to move north to be closer to her family.
The Bulldogs are yet to make a definitive call as the 24-year-old attempts to return from an ankle injury he suffered against Parramatta last month.
However, it's understood they are resigned to losing him given they are already trying to secure a replacement fullback.
