Big prawns in time for Christmas

DESPITE local fishermen declaring their worst prawn season yet, South Grafton seafood retailer Naeco Blue has the catch to complete your summer Christmas feast, come December 25.

Extra large school prawns, the size of king prawns, are running out the door at $19 a kilogram, as people are gearing up for the Christmas festive season.

Staff member Adam Hambly highly recommends them, saying they are some of the best prawns ever offered in store.

“The locals love them. One go at them and they come back for more,” he said.

The quality of the prawns is reflected in the quantities sold, with over a tonne of ocean school prawns expected to be sold this week.

“People are coming in and buying 10kg and putting them away for Christmas,” Adam said.

The prawns, which come from Southport, have ‘the best flavour of just about any prawn’, Adam said.
