Big River Club celebrates birthday

THE Big River Day Club (BRDC) will celebrate its seventh birthday this week.

It will be a challenge, though, to top last week’s hip-hop session at the Clarence Village Community Centre.

Dancers from Grafton’s Krazy Crew dazzled the veteran citizens with their dynamic head spins and windmills.

Entertainment of the elderly is part of the BRDC’s charter.

The club regularly hosts events such as luncheons, bingo and raffles, as well as exercise classes and bus trips for the residents of Clarence Village, Grafton.

BRDC member Rhonda Smith said the club hosted events every Thursday from 10am to 2pm.

She said the pensioners were often able to buy lunch and a beverage for just $5.

“The oldies absolutely love it; we dress up and dance and sing,” Ms Smith said.
