‘Blinder’ secures Grafton May golf title
A "BLINDER" of a day on the course saw Jodie Rockliff rise to the top at Grafton Golf Club's 52nd annual Ladies May Tournament.
Rockliff was outside the top contenders after the first day of play on Wednesday, trailing front-runners Courtney Fuller and Sue Reguson.
But a solid 79 on fday 2 brought her total to 167 for 36 holes, just enough to take out the title.
The 45-year-old from Coolangatta Tweed said she was absolutely ecstatic with the result, which follows on from her runner up result two years ago.
"This is only my fifth year so I'm relatively new at this tournament," she said.
"I came here with no expectations and ended up having a real good round today. It just takes one good round."
It was a close race at the end; Grafton's junior entrant Courtney Fuller came second with a total 168 and Coffs Harbour contestant Tracey Foster finished at 169.
Grafton Golf Club vice president Julie White said they were thrilled with both the weather and the turnout.
"They've travelled from a really big area; the girls have all come from out west as well," she said.
"All the visitors have commented what a great time they had."
