Bogut lands a new home in Philly - for now

BASKETBALL: Andrew Bogut has been traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in a multi-player deal, but don't expect him to remain there for too long.

According to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Dallas Mavericks traded Bogut (pictured), Justin Anderson, and a protected 2017 first-round pick to the 76ers for centre, Nerlens Noel.

The report claims that the 76ers are looking to trade Bogut to another team but, if a deal isn't reached, the team is expected to negotiate a buyout with the 32-year-old, which would make him an unrestricted free agent.

However, if Bogut is waived, five teams can claim him off the waivers thanks to either cap space or trade exception: the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, or Utah Jazz.

Assuming Bogut is bought out and clears waivers, he'll be able to choose his next team.

The Boston Celtics have shown interest in the big man for quite some time, while the Cleveland Cavaliers also have been "monitoring" him all season as a potential buy-out target, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

Bogut can't return to his former team, the Golden State Warriors, because NBA rules dictate that if a player is traded - the Warriors traded the Australian on July 7, 2016 - then he can't rejoin that team until the NBA calendar flips on July 1, 2017.
