Boks’ selection not all black and white to Meyer

SPRINGBOKS coach Heyneke Meyer says he is 'colour blind' when it comes to team selection.

Meyer was responding to claims that by selecting just one black player - prop Tendai Mtawarira - in the starting line-up, and mixed race winger Bryan Habana on the bench for last weekend's shock loss to Argentina in Durban, he was not embracing the South African Rugby Union's plan to have non-whites make up half the national team by 2019.

"I don't look at colour. I look at the best players," Meyer said amid growing calls for his sacking six weeks from the World Cup.

He has named four non-white players - Habana, Lwazi Mvovo, Trevor Nyakane and Zane Kirchner - for this weekend's rematch in Buenos Aires.

Media reports suggest five black players have officially complained to the Congress of South African Trade Unions about their recent non-selection.
