Bollinger and Abbott to promote game in regional areas

FORMER Test quick Doug Bollinger and Sean Abbott will be coming to the North Coast next week for the annual Cricket NSW Toyota Country Blitz.

The NSW Blues pair are part of an initiative to encourage girls and boys to join their local cricket club this summer.

Their visit will include a MILO T20 Blast Gala, meeting with locals, conducting clinics and attending sportsmen's nights.

General Manager of game development NSW/ACT, Cameron Finch said that the Toyota Country Blitz will be a "wonderful opportunity for regional fans to connect" with a couple of the NSW Blues squad before their season starts.

"During last season's Cricket Australia Road Shows, the cricket community gave a strong message that they would like more visits from our elite players," Finch said.

"Cricket NSW has already made a significant investment in regional NSW. In the last 12 months we've added a further five staff to our regional areas, taking the total number of staff serving grass roots cricket in Country NSW to eleven," he said.

"Later this year, Cricket NSW Game Development staff will also be visiting a number of smaller towns in regional areas to further promote the game, and offer support to grass roots volunteers."

Cricket clubs are now taking registrations for summer.
