Botero bursts into Brisbane

BOTERO’S new Brisbane store is taking the river city’s coffee scene by storm, already featuring in foodie bibles such as Good Food and the Weekend Edition.

While Botero Brisbane only opened their doors on March 7, manager Bonnie Duyker said the glowing reviews were a surprise.

“We didn’t even know when these reviewers came in until they came up to the counter and introduced themselves,” she said.

“We were anticipating it would be a busy start, but we were surprised at how busy we were the first week. It’s impressive to see every single day we are improving on the day before.”

Ms Duyker said the effort that has gone into starting the Brisbane cafe was starting to pay off.

“We have an incredible team that worked really hard, and they’re pumped and happy,” she said.

“We are building up a regular customer base which is lovely to see.

“We were so busy on Friday that we ran out of food.”

Ms Duyker said a number of ex-Clarence Valley faces were working at Botero Brisbane, which helped give the cafe its unique character.

“Everyone is able to talk about the Botero story, and the family vibe is definitely something we are showcasing,” she said.

“We want to make sure that every single person who comes in gets the best possible experience. That philosophy has done us well in the past, and I think it will do us well going into the future.”
