Boxing Hall of Fame gets 12 more inductees

THE International Boxing Hall of Fame is about to get 12 new members, including former star fighters Joe Calzaghe, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad.

Calzaghe (pictured), 41, finished a 15-year pro career 46-0 with 32 knockouts and defended his super-middleweight crown 21 times.

De La Hoya, also 41, finished 39-6 with 30 knockouts. He won gold as a lightweight at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics before becoming a world champion in five weight classes from lightweight to middleweight.

Trinidad, 40, finished 42-3 with 35 knockouts. He won the IBF welterweight title in his 20th pro fight and made 15 successful title defences.

Others to be inducted include promoter Barry Hearn, referee Richard Steele, photographer Neil Leifer, journalist Graham Houston and posthumous honourees Tom Allen, Mike O'Dowd, Charles Ledoux, George Chaney and referee Eugene Corri.
