Brent is in the top 100
GRAFTON hockey legend Brent Livermore has been selected among Queensland's top 100 hockey players to compete in the inaugural Super League tournament to be played at the State Hockey Centre in Brisbane over the June long weekend.
The Super League tournament will comprise of men's and women's divisions, each with six competing zone teams from across the state.
The competition is different to other tournaments in that district associations are grouped together and given the opportunity to select a team of the strongest players within their zone.
Players from the Gold Coast and Tweed Border District Hockey Associations will combine to form men's and women's South Coast zone sides.
Jamie Stone of Upper Coomera, Brooke Anderson of Wonglepong, Savannah and Madison Fitzpatrick of Cabarita Beach, together with Rachel Mills and Kandice Olivieri of Arundel, are among the players named in the women's South Coast line-up.
Meanwhile local hockey legend, Brent Livermore, will lead the South Coast men's line-up which also includes Murwillumbah's Andrew Butterini and Dylan Wotherspoon.
From the Super League, men's and women's Australian Hockey League, state under 21, Queensland Development and Queensland Country teams will be selected.
As well as the South Coast sides, there will teams representing Brisbane, South West, Wide Bay, Central and Northern zones.
The Northern zone teams will consist of players from Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa, the Peninsula and Atherton.
Central zone teams will be made-up of players from Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay and Moranbah, Wide Bay zone line-ups will include players from the Sunshine Coast, Maryborough, Gympie, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.
The South West zone teams will consist of players from Toowoomba, Ipswich and Warwick and Brisbane zone teams will cater for Brisbane and Redlands players.
Super League will be played at the State Hockey Centre in Brisbane, 400 Lytton Road Colmslie, from June 9-11.
