Four car crash like a domino effect on Grafton Bridge
IF GRAFTON residents needed any more proof that the second bridge cannot come quickly enough, it arrived with a bang at 5.30pm on Monday.
That was when a southbound minibus, being driven by a 75-year-old man, ran into the back of a Holden Cruze and set off a chain reaction that blocked both lanes of the bridge.
After hitting the Cruze, the minibus then ran into a Nissan Pulsar, which was pushed into a Nissan utility that in turn hit a Honda Accord.
As a result traffic was left a standstill in both directions with the bridge closed for about 50 minutes.
The driver of the minivan was trapped in his vehicle. After being freed he was taken to Grafton Base Hospital.
Yesterday police were continuing their investigation into the accident and were waiting to speak to the injured driver.
The second Grafton bridge is due to be completed by the end of 2019.
