Brown snake puts council staff on edge for afternoon

CLARENCE Valley Council staff are having an edgy afternoon in their Prince St offices after a one-metre eastern brown snake slithered into the garden in front of the building about 2pm.

A public health warning has gone around to staff to keep an eye out for their unwelcome visitor, which slipped into a crack in the wall of the garden while many staff were enjoying lunch in Memorial Park.

A council worker caught sight of the reptile and contacted WIRES, but it disappeared from view before the snake catcher arrived.
