NRL: Brown's first win in charge of Knights

LOWER Clarence son Nathan Brown won his first match as the head coach of the Newcastle Knights at the weekend.

The former Magpie was pleased with his side's efforts picking up the two-point victory over Wests Tigers.

"It's good to get a win, there's no doubt about that,'' Brown said.

"To win a close game, as well, that was good.

"At home, when you're sitting on the bottom of the table and nearly 22,000 people turn up, you've got to be very, very happy for the fans."

The win was not without controversy after a second ball incident led to a repeat set for the Knights and the match-winning try.
