BRUNEI will introduce strict Islamic criminal laws - including stoning for Muslim adulterers -according to its ruling sultan, as the oil-rich Southeast Asian country shifts to a more conservative form of Islam compared to its Muslim-majority neighbors.

The Wall Street Journal reports the new laws would be in place within six months.

Punishments, including the amputation of hands for theft, would be applicable solely to Muslims.
