Brushy residents working on their fitness

SEVEN Brushgrove residents have started work on their fitness through the first community-run class of the Be Fit - For You program.

The program started on May 13 at the Brushgrove Hall, and class co-ordinator Glenys Addison said she was more than happy with the initial turn-out.

She said the group started the program with gentle stretches and a 20-minute walk using the Be Fit - For You exercise kits, commissioned by Clarence Valley Council and supported by a grant from the Department of Family and Community Services.

"It was a glorious day for our walk and we finished the morning with a cuppa on the veranda," she said. Other classes will start in Grafton on June 12 and Yamba on June 15.

Individual exercise kits are available to borrow from the Grafton, Maclean and Yamba libraries.

People can also get a personal kit, a small group kit to share with three friends or start a community group, with kits available for groups of 12.

A monthly newsletter will start next month and will offer tips and ideas to keep class participants motivated.

To register for an exercise kit and the newsletter or find out more about community classes, contact Clarence Valley Council community development officer on 6645 0001 or email heather.lamberton@clarence.nsw.gov.au.
