Bulldogs fan cleans up in DEX tipping comp
WINNING Daily Examiner footy tipper and Elland local Sara Holder said she was sceptical when she found out she won because she did not even check her stats.
"I thought it might have been someone from my work at Big W ringing up and playing a joke on me," Ms Holder said.
"I wasn't even checking my stats online or anything."
Ms Holder won $500 worth of Coles Myer Group gift cards for being the leading Daily Examiner entrant in the APN-wide competition.
She came 76th out of 4000 people who entered.
Ms Holder said she also took out equal first in the tipping competition at Big W.
As a result she has pulled in $725 of footy tipping winnings for the year.
Ms Holder said she was going to the NRL grand final with her sister in Sydney this year and her prizes would go towards the weekend.
A Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs supporter for about 30 years, she tips her favourite team each week, no matter the odds.
"Obviously because the Dogs were doing really well, that helped me," she said.
"If they weren't doing well, it wouldn't be very good for me. I went to the Bulldogs and Titans game on the bus with people from work. I didn't like the score, though."
Ms Holding said she simply followed the Telstra iiNet odds. "Most of the time, I only got one or two wrong," she said.
"If I went with my gut instinct in the last Parramatta and Raiders game, I would have won the Big W comp outright, but I thought the favourites had been working well for me so I'd better stick with them."
