Call for more police resources

COUNTRY Labor candidate for the Clarence by-election Peter Ellem today launched a petition calling for more police resources: a mobile police van for Grafton and 24 hour police stations in Casino and Yamba.

"Local residents and business owners are understandably worried about the recent increase in criminal activity in our region," Mr Ellem said.

"I'm launching a community petition calling for more police, a mobile police van for Grafton and 24 hour police stations in Casino and Yamba.

"I've met with our local police who are doing an incredible job protecting our community, but they need more resources.

"The Police Minister in Sydney can solve this problem and intervene now. We need more police, a mobile police van for Grafton and 24 hour police stations for Casino and Yamba now.

"Local business owners and families have a right to feel safe in their communities.

"The National Party say they are about delivering regional infrastructure and they need to put their money where their mouth is.

"I'll be out in the community, encouraging local residents and business owners to get behind my petition.

"We need more police, a mobile police van for Grafton and 24 hour police stations in Casino and Yamba now."

Petitions will be available in local shops. Alternatively, you can email peter.ellem@alp.com.au or call Peter's campaign office on 0413 055 189 to receive a copy.
