Cannabis could be the answer to our family’s prayers
FOR the past eight years our son has been struggling with a rare condition called Landau-Kleffner syndrome, where one of the symptoms is uncontrollable epilepsy.
Over the years he has been prescribed numerous epilepsy medications and at one point was on a cocktail of 10 tablets a day as well as epilem and steroids.
Joshua's condition means when he goes to sleep his brain will go into constant seizure mode where he can be experiencing a seizure every three seconds.
The medication causes weight gain, liver damage, visual complications, heart problems and constant fatigue. Unfortunately even with medication we have never gotten Josh to the point where he is seizure free.
Our family is very anti-drug but when it comes to medical cannabis I believe this is an amazing natural plant that could be very beneficial to our son's well-being and health.
I have researched the benefits of medical cannabis and am in contact with families who are giving it to their children and are having amazing results.
I was extremely happy when I found out today that is has been passed through legislation for patients to access in conjunction with their doctors.
As parents we have always had Joshua's health and safety as our main priority and would like to access medical cannabis in conjunction with our medical professionals.
I know there are a lot of families in the same situation as ours who are desperate to try medical cannabis but want to access it through legal means.
