Career expo for young and old

ORGANISERS of the upcoming Careers Expo 2010 at Grafton TAFE on June 9 are tipping that there will be up to 50 stallholders offering careers advice.

Grafton Chamber of Commerce and Industry executive officer James Patterson said invitations had been sent to companies and organisations across the whole range of employers to give careers advice at the expo.

Mr Patterson said the expo would target young people with its careers advice, but assured older people that there would also be a significant component of the information relevant to their needs.

“We’re targeting schools with our invitations, but there is also going to be an emphasis on career changers,” Mr Patterson said.

“There are going to be 50 stallholders as well as a series of speakers talking about career paths in a wide number of industries.”

The expo is a collaboration of The Daily Examiner, the chamber, Grafton TAFE and North Coast Youth Career Connections.

Country Energy is the major sponsor.

There is also going to be an emphasis on career changers.
