Casino woman dies in Woodburn smash

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a woman in a crash near Woodburn yesterday.

About 1:45pm, police and other emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, approximately 5kms north of Woodburn, after a crash involving a southbound white Nissan Pulsar and a northbound truck.

The Nissan driver, a 25-year-old woman from Casino, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The truck driver escaped injury and was taken to Ballina Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The Pacific Highway was closed until 5pm while officers attached to Ballina Crash Investigation Unit conducted examinations of the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Ballina Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
