Causley out of top of table clash with United
LCCA CRICKET: Wanderers have been dealt a killer blow on the eve of their top of the table clash with Maclean United at Barry Watts Oval after leading seamer Dylan Causley was handed a one match suspension by the Lower Clarence Cricket Association judiciary earlier this week.
Causley was served the automatic one match suspension after pulling out of representative duties on the eve of Lower Clarence's gruelling five-wicket loss to Nambucca Valley last week.
Causley is the leading wicket taker in LCCA First Grade so far this season taking 21 wickets at a strike rate of about one wicket every 16 deliveries and according to pace partner Brandon Honeybrook it is his ability to strike that will be missed most.
"He is the leading wicket taker in our competition, it is a massive hit to our team,” Honeybrook said.
"Pretty much our whole side can roll the arm over, and they are all good bowlers but it is going to come down to us bowling as a complete unit.
"Wickets wise Dylan is our best option. He is the one we call upon when we are in a spot and he always breaks the partnership we need him to. It is a massive blow to not have him.”
It will be the third time the sides have met this season and with United already holding a 2-0 advantage Honeybrook was worried they will make it 3-0.
The seamer said his side would just need to knuckle down with the bat to give them a defendable total.
"Our batting has been our biggest issue all season,” he said. "We are only hitting mediocre totals. We need to start putting big runs on the board, we have to start now.”
