Chainsaw used in neighbourhood brawl

A MAN, who was hacked with a chainsaw during a horrific street fight on Monday night, could still lose his arm while his neighbour was missing a finger.

About 9.20pm, police were called to a Sydney home after reports a neighbourhood dispute had turned ugly.

Mark Jorgensen, 29, had his right arm severely injured by a chainsaw during the brawl and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

He remains in hospital where doctors are monitoring his recovery.

The man who allegedly armed himself with the chainsaw, Troy Thornton, lost a finger and was also in hospital.

Witness accounts vary, but according to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Thornton's family claim he held up the chainsaw to defend himself against a group armed with machetes and bats.

Police have taken more than a dozen statements. No charges yet have been laid.
