Championships on horizon for BMX club

BMX: The Clarence Valley BMX Club is abuzz with the influx of new riders taking up BMX as a sport over the past couple of weeks at the South Grafton BMX race track.

The club held racing on Wednesday night and this was the first time racing for a few of the new BMX riders.

The new riders are not only having the time of their lives but they are also learning very valuable bike skills that will stay with them for the rest of the rest of their lives. The new riders are gaining confidence with every lap around the track.

The BMX club holds practice and training on Friday nights where the Clark brothers Jake, 5, and Sunny, 3, from Yamba have already picked up some of the basic skills and are showing great potential in the sport.

BMX riding is not just for the boys as the girl riders are also getting hooked on the adrenaline pumping ride. With continuous comments like "one more lap" and "can we come back next week", many parents are surprised by how much the kids are enjoying their new found sport on two wheels.

A few Clarence Valley BMX families have been travelling up to Queensland to compete in the South-East QLD BMX Shootout Series. With a bag full of wins and top placings our local riders are making a big impression in the QLD series which still has three rounds left to race.

At the end of this month 13 Clarence Valley BMX Club riders will be competing in the Australian National BMX Championships at the newly constructed 1.5 million dollar world class BMX track at Bathurst NSW.

This is the pinnacle of BMX racing in Australia with over 3300 rider entries at the week long championships and the chance for our local riders to qualify for the 2017 BMX World Titles in the USA.
