Chance to join tennis club

GRAFTON District Tennis Association is holding an Open Day on March 5 from 4pm at the City Court in Prince Street, Grafton.

Each club in the district will be represented, so those wishing to play Saturday competition or night or social competition in their area and need information, come along and see your local club.

There will be social tennis on the day and a sausage sizzle.

The Grafton City Tennis Tuesday Ladies competition will start on March 15. Gradings for all new intending players will be on March 1 and March 8, with social play available for current players.

New players are welcome. All players must ensure their names have been submitted and any inquiries should be directed to Wendy Danks-Brown on 6649 3061 or Chris Fussell on 6643 1575.

Names are being taken for the 2011 Grafton District Tennis Association Saturday Competition, which will start c on April 2.

New or established players of all standards welcome. Please contact your club, or if new to the area, one of the following club contacts: Junction Hill Tennis Club: 0419 831 023 or 0401 321 795, Grafton City Tennis Club: 6642 5666.

There are also clubs at Waterview Heights, Ulmarra, Copmanhurst, Coutts Crossing. Form a team (minimum 5, maximum 8 players) and get names to your club by March 12.

Congratulations to all local players who a played in the MJDS “double header” in Ballina on the weekend. Result will be in next week’s column.

Tennis NSW Premier League Competition – starts on March 4 at Junction Hill Tennis Courts. The Tennis NSW Premier League is the brand that encapsulates the new competition pathway for NSW.

The Premier League consists of 4 levels of competition structure in City and Country regions, giving participants the opportunity to progress as representatives through these levels to the City vs Country Premier League final.

This is a new competition for 2011 and is open to all tournament junior players and adults. Players will play 1 singles and 2 doubles matches per night. 6pm-8pm, $5 per week for members of JHTC and $7 per week for non-members.

All players must be members of Tennis NSW.
