Charges after gun raid reveals sick guinea pigs, rabbit

ANIMAL cruelty charges have been laid against snake owner in Sydney's west after a gun raid uncovered two sick guinea pigs and a an ill rabbit.

Police searched the St Mary's property late Monday and seized a number of guns, ammunition, trailers and two snakes.

The RSPCA was called in after the guinea pigs and rabbit were found to be in poor health.

One of the guinea pigs has since been euthanised.

The 34-year-old owner was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, possessing protected fauna and a number of firearm offences.

He was refused bail.
