Charity ball for our 150th

GETTING dressed up for a black tie event doesn't happen too often in Grafton.

The Daily Examiner Charity Ball will allow you to do just that.

The Daily Examiner, the first newspaper established on the North Coast of New South Wales, is celebrating its 150th year.

In celebration of the milestone, The Examiner will be hosting a charity ball on July 11 at the South Grafton Ex-Servicemen's Club.

All proceeds from the evening will be going to the Grafton Base Hospital.

A two-course meal as well as high-class entertainment will be provided on the night.

Grafton girls, The McClymonts, of country music fame, will be back in town as the headline act for the evening.

Band Los Garbos are to play, as will a 12-piece string quartet comprising local talented musicians.

Daily Examiner general manager Judy Lewis is looking forward to the ball that will surely be the Clarence Valley's social event of the year.

“We as a group are really looking forward to giving some support to the hospital,” Ms Lewis said.

“It provides such an essential service to all of Grafton and should be supported as much as possible.”

The evening, set to be full of fun, will showcase some of the Clarence Valley's best and brightest local talent.

“It is fantastic to have one of our biggest exports, The McClymonts, to provide the entertainment, and I am also looking forward to seeing some of our best local talent in Los Garbos and the string quartet,” Ms Lewis said.

Tickets are limited for the ball. To reserve your place, or for further information, call Kylee Mitchell on 6643 0576, or visit our office at 55 Fitzroy Street, Grafton. Tickets are $100 each, which includes a two-course meal, the entertainment and memorabilia on the night.
