Charity hits purple patch

MEET the 2013 Junior Jacaranda candidates.

These young ladies have been working hard fundraising and have many events coming up.

They can be found most Saturday mornings at Coles selling raffle tickets for the Jacaranda Committee major fundraiser.

This year, the candidates have been allocated a local community-based organisation about which they will write their major speech, which will form part of the judging by a secret panel on Friday, October 11.

The 2013 Junior Jacaranda Queen and Princess will be the candidates who have demonstrated a sense of community spirit, are confident public speakers and enjoy meeting people.

The directors thanked sponsors, the Grafton District Services Club, I Scream and Threadworks. They also paid tribute to the talent of Lynelle and her staff at Twisted Scissors Salon, who styled the girls' hair, and to Nutrimetics, Karen and Simon's make-up skills to complete the girls' transformations.

Upcoming Junior Jacaranda events

  • August 31, Bunnings BBQ
  • September 14, Fashion Parade
  • September 22, Barefoot Bowls at the GDSC
  • September 27, I-Scream night
