Cheika goes for experience with Genia

RUGBY: Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has gone for experience in choosing his 33-man Rugby Championship squad after the dismal series against England.

Five oveseas players - who have their best rugby behind them - are in the squad: Will Genia, Quade Cooper, Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Drew Mitchell.

Reds halfback Nick Frisby has been squeezed out to make way for Genia, who has been injured for much of the year.

Winger Luke Morahan and prop Toby Smith also miss out after being involved in June.

Waratahs' Tom Robertson, 21, is one of four uncapped players in the squad, joining Rebels duo Reece Hodge and Lopeti Timani and Brumbies prop Allan Alaalatoa.

The Wallabies play their first Bledisloe Cup match on August 20 in Sydney.

The squad is: Allan Alaalatoa, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Adam Coleman, Quade Cooper, Kane Douglas, Scott Fardy, Israel Folau, Bernard Foley, Will Genia, Matt Giteau, James Hanson, Dane Haylett-Petty, Reece Hodge, Michael Hooper, Rob Horne, Sekope Kepu, Samu Kerevi, Tevita Kuridrani, Ben McCalman, Sean McMahon, Drew Mitchell, Stephen Moore (c), Dean Mumm, Nick Phipps, David Pocock, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Tom Robertson, Rob Simmons, Scott Sio, Will Skelton, James Slipper, Lopeti Timani and Matt Toomua.
