Children might have seen stabbing
POLICE could not confirm whether a woman who allegedly stabbed her partner in Goonellabah yesterday was physically assaulted before the incident.
At 11am yesterday, police and paramedics responded to a report of a stabbing at a Shearman Dr residence.
They arrived to find a 32-year-old woman trying to resuscitate her 43-year-old de facto partner, who laid sprawled on the residence's front yard with two stab wounds.
The man died at the scene. The woman was subsequently arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station. .
Three children were at home at the time of the stabbing and they may have witnessed the incident. They were removed from the residence.
Police said the children, aged three, seven and twelve, were in the care of relatives.
While police said the victim and the offender were known to police, they could not confirm whether the woman sustained any injuries before the stabbing.
“A 32-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and she is assisting us with inquiries at Lismore Police Station,” Richmond Local Area Command crime manager Detective Acting Inspector Matt Kehoe, said.
“It's too early to say what she may be charged with or if she will be charged.”
