Chopper squad flies in

YAMBA locals were treated to a rare helicopter landing in the middle of town on Saturday.

The Squirrel aircraft is part of the Royal Australian Navy training squadron which was heading from Nowra to Cairns.

The exercise is part of the Navy's home visits program, giving its officers a chance to show their home town just what they're up to.

Ex-Maclean High student, Petty Officer Paul Wilson, was thrilled to have the aircraft on home turf.

Locals were able to examine the aircraft.
