Christina Exie crowned Project Runway Australia winner
CHRISTINA Exie is officially the comeback queen of the runway after fighting back from elimination to win Project Runway.
The avant-garde designer narrowly missed out on a spot in the fashion design competition's Top 3, but was given a second chance to win a spot in the final runway show.
It was the first time in the show's four years that four designers were able to show their final collections and vie for the grand prize.
Exie's show-stopping collection proved to have the edge over fellow finalists Leah Da Gloria, Jamie Ashkar and Tristan Melle.
Judges Megan Gale, Peter Morrissey and Claudia Navone, along with guest judges Madison editor Lizzie Renkert and Global Production Director at IMG Jarrad Clark, deemed her pieces worth of any runway in Paris, Milan or New York.
"I am so excited to have won. It is the chance of a lifetime to not only have won some incredible prizes but to meet and get invaluable advice from some of the biggest names in Australian fashion," Exie said.
"I have also been privileged to compete alongside some incredible designers and made friendships for life. The whole experience has been incredibly exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. I can't wait for the next chapter."
As the winner of Project Runway, Exie will receive a KIA Rio, a six-page fashion feature in Madison magazine and the opportunity to present her own show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013 collections in Sydney.
