City does it Mooy way to edge out Sydney club

FOOTBALL: Two stunning free kicks by Socceroo Aaron Mooy gave Melbourne City a 2-1 win over Sydney outfit Edgeworth FC, and a spot in the FFA Cup's round of 16.

The Eagles went ahead through a first-half penalty to Bren Hammel, before Mooy (pictured) equalised nine minutes later with his best impersonation of a David Beckham free kick from 30m.

Edgeworth was on the cusp of a major upset until Mooy broke with deadlock with another almost identical strike in the 93rd minute.

Melbourne Victory had no cause for concern in its match against the Balmain Tigers in Sydney, star striker Besart Berisha opening the scoring after 11 minutes to put the A League champions on their way to a 6-0 victory.

Sydney Olympic downed Gunghalin United 1-0 to move through to the round of 16 for the second consecutive year, while Sydney United 58 beat South Hobart 3-1 on penalties after the score was locked at 3-all on full-time.
