Club boss laughs off rumour

RUMOURS about Northern United exiting the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition have been rejected.

Speculation surfaced earlier this week suggesting Northern United was set to fold.

Northern United president Lester Moran Snr yesterday laughed off the suggestion, declaring the club was as far from folding as it could be.

"No chance," he said.

"We missed out on the finals in first grade by a point and won the minor premiership in reserve grade.

"We're looking forward to trying to win our first premiership."

Northern United's reserve-grade team has this week off before taking on either Marist Brothers or Grafton Ghosts in the pre-liminary final.

Brothers will play Grafton at Ballina's Kingsford Smith Park this Sunday. The match program features all three Ghosts teams.

The under-18s will also face off against Marist Brothers, while first grade will play Ballina Seagulls.

Grafton's hopes of hosting the NRRRL grand final hinge on their results, with wins in the next two weeks granting a home final.
