Club bowled over with positive feedback
PHONE calls and inquiries are coming in thick and fast from people wanting to book an event at Yamba's tenpin bowling alley.
The thing is, it's not even built yet.
Construction on the tourist town's newest entertainment precinct, an extension of the Yamba Bowling Club that will include bowling lanes, 18 holes of mini-golf, arcade games and a bouldering wall, is expected to be completed by mid-December.
Yamba Bowling Club's Phil Boughton said the club was excited to open just in time for Yamba's "mad holiday rush”, and said feedback from the community had already been brilliant.
"I think our first summer is going to be hectic, regardless of whether we advertise or not,” he said.
"I think we're going to be swamped by visitors first, then I'm sure a lot of of curious locals will be coming in for birthday parties and corporate functions.
"We've had phone calls even from Iluka asking when are you opening up and there's been tremendous feedback from people saying they normally travel to Grafton or Ballina for that sort of thing.
"We've even got senior members looking forward to doing activities with their grandchildren.”
Mr Boughton said the new precinct would be the cherry on the cake for the town, which is slowly growing to accommodate the increasing influx of visitors every year.
"Now in town we're going to have movies, the skate park, the footy field, golf course, mini-golf, and tenpin bowling to name a few.”
