Club hopes for repeat conditions at regatta

SAILING: There were fabulous sailing conditions last weekend at Big River Sailing Club. Light and steady for the learners and returners in the morning, and a cracking nor'easter by afternoon racing with an outgoing tide built some great waves.

The water was warm and clear - just as well, everyone had a swim. There were some scorching-fast off wind rides, which were massive fun. It was unanimously voted best sailing day of the year.

The club will hope for repeat conditions next weekend as the Annual Regatta on March 5 and 6 attracts visiting sailors from far and wide. All gather at the club park grounds for a weekend of keen sailing and camaraderie.

Yachts, trailer sailors, catamarans, skiff and dinghy sail boats, will ply the river between Harwood and Iluka on Saturday afternoon, with a couple of shorter format races on Sunday. Spectators are welcome to come and watch the race start at 1.30pm on Saturday.
