Club moves on deck

YAMBA Surf Life Saving Club is taking advantage of the winter months to replace its 17-year-old veranda and move ahead with storm-damage-related works.

The $26,000 veranda is scheduled to be finished by the end of the week and will result in a slightly wider uncovered deck, using the same sail structure that existed.

A section of roof in the oldest part of the building and the back wall of the club is also being replaced.

Both were suffering storm damage.

The Main Beach Cafe is still in operation during the extension works.

The bar, inside the club, is also opened on Sunday afternoons, from 3pm until closing time at 6pm.

The area above the club’s boat ramp has been cordoned off and beachgoers will need to access either side of the club via the beach.
